Meditation - the way of stillness

The way of stillness is a moment of doing nothing. Not trying to do or not to do, not trying to understand or explain, not thinking and not trying not to think. Simply being, with nothing in the head or the heart. Just being awake to the moment, the simplest thing.
The mind doesn't grasp it - "what do I get out of this, doing nothing?" But that is exactly the point. The stillness in meditation brings the truth to light, and the truth is that we have no quiet in our heads. And out of that emptiness comes a great deal: we begin to see our habits of thinking, our perceptions and beliefs.
Meditation allows a connection inward, to the deep place within us - where wisdom dwells.
Its effect is broad and meaningful: it reduces stress and physical and mental rigidity, calms emotional storms, slows the heartbeat and blood pressure, strengthens the immune system and deepens attention and focus.
You've already tasted it, without knowing
Every time you were so absorbed in something that you didn't want to stop - you were in meditation. Every time you enjoyed the view with an open heart, every time you danced as if no one was watching - you were in meditation.
Meditation in movement
For those with more restless energy, or who struggle with attention and restlessness - movement helps synchronise the outer and inner rhythms. Walking, mindfulness yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, dance. Go with what you connect to, without "should", and make time to turn inward. Whoever doesn't go inward, simply goes without.
